The aim is to achieve superior absolute returns through the application of traditional, fundamental and value investment principles.

May 2018:

Highlights

  • The portfolio showed a 2.49% gain for the month.*
  • The portfolio outperformed its benchmark.

Lowlights

  • The European markets have been particularly affected by the political stalemate in Italy and its potential to disrupt the euro and threaten the European project.

Commentary

The markets continue to be volatile, which is being fed by plenty of political news. One of the points of note for the month was the strength of the USD, which helped cause negative sentiment in emerging markets. The eagerly awaited on off Trump/North Korea meeting will continue to be a major factor effecting markets over the next few weeks.
